Volumetric geogrid is a cell structure (module) of tapes, fastened together in a chessboard pattern by welded high-strength seams. When a module is stretched in the working plane, a stable volume frame is formed, which is intended for fixing the filler (vegetable soil, crushed stone, sand, etc.)

APPLICATION OF THE SLAVROS GR GEOGRIDS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF OBJECTS WILL ALLOW TO SOLVE FOLLOWING TASKS:

  • the exclusion of the horizontal shear of the material filling the cells when it is subjected to a concentrated load;
  • slowing the deformation of the pavement layers, embankments, increase their service life;

Where is it used?

The Slavros GR volumetric geogrid is a cell structure of 1.6 mm thick tapes, stapled together in a checkerboard pattern by high-strength welded seams. When stretched in a working plane, it forms a stable three-dimensional framework that is intended for fixing the filler (soil, quartz sand, concrete, etc.).

Oil and gas construction

The Slavros GR volumetric geogrid is used as erosion protection of embankments of oil and gas pipelines, as a reinforcing layer of a heat recovery screen, soil berms, pipelines laid in permafrost conditions, should be protected from external influences. One of such methods is pipeline embankment with protection against soil weathering using the Slavros GR geogrid

Road construction

Strengthening the slopes of the grooves volumetric geogrid "Slavros GR" 
Slavros GR volumetric geogrid not only strengthens the slope from destruction, but also protects the slope from water and wind erosion, increasing the life of the subgrade as a whole. 

With the use of a bulk grid, construction of technological, along-route, temporary roads is possible, thereby significantly increasing the construction time during the preparatory period and increasing the operational characteristics (excluding track formation), at the same time raising the service life.

Installation technique

The geogrid is a cell construction of polyethylene tapes 1.6 mm thick, stapled together in high-staggered manner with high-strength seams. When stretching, the geogrid in the working plane forms a stable volume frame, which is designed to fix the filler (soil, quartz sand, crushed stone, concrete, etc.).

Polyethylene textured strips can be perforated as well as non-perforated. Perforated strips produced with holes with a diameter of 10 mm, located in horizontal rows.

Depending on the conditions, it is recommended to use the following types of geogrids:
  • Славрос ГР 15 (h=150мм), Славрос ГР 20 (h=200мм)  (откосы из легкоразмываемых грунтов, одномерных песков, крупнообломочных грунтов);
  • Slavros GR 15 (h = 150mm), Slavros GR 20 (h = 200mm) (slopes from easily eroded soils, one-dimensional sands, coarse-grained soils); Slavros GR 5 (h = 50mm), Slavros GR 10 (h = 100mm) (with low intensity of dispersed flow, slopes no higher than 1: 2 in the soil and climatic conditions favorable for the formation of vegetation cover).
The size of the diagonals of the cells used to strengthen the slopes should be 210 or 320 mm (b = c).

It is recommended to use the Slavros geotextile as a separating layer in the case of filling the cells with drainage filler (crushed stone, sand and gravel).

Slope Reinforcement Design

For fixing the geogrid used L-shaped anchor 10-14 mm. L = 0.7-1.2 m. Rebar consumption per 100 sq.m is about 300 kg.

In the upper part of the slopes, the fixing of the geogrid occurs in each cell.

Fastening the sections between each other with anchors in each cell in the direction from top to bottom, through the cell in the transverse direction. In addition, an anchor with a pitch of 1-1.5 m is installed inside each module in a staggered manner.

Specifically, the dimensions of the anchors and their installation step is determined by the project, depending on the soil, slope steepness and weight of the grille aggregate, based on the condition of fixing the structure on the slope from shear.
